We will meet at the Scout Building at 10:30AM will leave around 11 and enjoy all of the activities at Swine Creek Reservation in Middlefield.
Visit Geauga Park District's sugar house, sugarbush and lodge for a sweet taste of how maple sugaring methods have evolved from the Native American tradition to modern methods!
Gather sap in the sugarbush with a horse-drawn sap sled, which steps off each day from behind the sugar house at 1 and 2 p.m.
Experience the various methods used throughout history for tapping, gathering and boiling maple sap.
See (and smell) sap boiling in the sugar house, then get a sample taste of the sweet stuff we've already made this season.
Warm up in the lodge with free maple stirs, popcorn, maple sugaring artifact viewing and live music by the Mr. Haney String Band.
Purchase the award-winning maple syrup in the lodge...while supplies last!
Once the event ends at 4 we will go back to the building around 5.
We will be hiking the Cuyahoga OA Trail. The trail was redone recently, so we will be some of the first people to hike the whole trail. This trip will also be a prep-trip for Philmont.
We will be camping at Mosquito Lake State Park. We will do some service for the park to camp on Saturday night. We will canoe during the day and maybe do some hiking.
